Rane was born in Rajahmundry (Andhra Pradesh) and brought up in Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh). His father, Vivek Rane, a Maharashtrian, was a doctor and his mother, a Telugu, is a homemaker settled in Hyderabad, and his grandfather was an army lieutenant. His sister, Rohini lives in Mumbai. He was thought to make his Hindi movie debut with “Ram Leela” directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, though he ultimately opted out due to longer time span of contract. Prior acting, Harshvardhan worked as a freelancer in a movie enterprise. Harshvardhan learned acting skills from Barry John acting foundation. He bought a Nokia 3310 mobile for his Dad with his first salary. Harshvardhan Rane did ad commercial for 7Up and Chennai Super Kings. Rane collected charity for an orphan baby girl with his a shirt-off initiative. His sister Rohini was a topper in MBA and currently works in Mumbai.
